The principle of the ABCT Aquabelt concept is to condition the feed sludge with a synthetic polyelectrolyte and drain the flocculated sludge over an endless horizontal porus filter belt, before inducing further thickening using a patented ramp device.  The thickened sludge is then transported away from the ABCT allowing the filter belt to return via a continuous wash station.
